We Own the Sky...

dress+sunnies/UO  sandals/DolceVita watch/MichaelKors

It is literally impossible to dress conservatively in the southern hemisphere of the United States this week. The heat index is over 100 degrees every single day in Florida. Wearing more than one layer is exhausting.

But, I'm trying to make the best of it and therefore I think I have officially entered into "little dress mode." There is something so comfy and easy about a sundress. I love this one because it has a little something unique about it. The asymmetrical hem is so delicate and thus so very perfect for these scorching temps. I also don't hate the chance to wear these super lovely Dolce Vita rope sole sandals. I can't believe it, I'm actually enjoying getting dressed for summer. Who knew? I suspect this rogue contentment will end before August, shortly after I peep through some Fall advertisements and can't contain my desire to layer myself in scarves and tweed.

Thank you Starbucks for preventing dehydration. The title of this blog is an M83 song title. <3 summer tunes.

In the midst...

It's one of those weeks, folks. I've been feeling unfortunately uninspired, due to my lack of blogging. I find that this style blog is quite cyclical in that way. If I happen to be in the midst of a bummer day or week what have you, I'll forgo writing the blog for a bit. The problem is, when I neglect the blog (which is one of a handful of things that brings me a feeling of accomplishment or fulfillment) it just worsens my attitude! Okay, enough of Debbie Downer for the day....

One thing I'm very happy about are these Dolce Vita flatform sandals. :) In love. I usually skip anything straw or rope for summer because to be quite honest, I just want summer to be over as fast as it started. I know that's like blasphemy to some people. But, if you had lived in the stifling Florida heat your entire life and were used to daily 50% humidity, you might feel the same. HOWEVER, these sandals are a bit of summer that make me smile. They're also extremely comfortable which makes them suitable for everyday work wear! Nice.

Breather...

You know that rare feeling when you’ve been working really hard and then you realize….you can actually chill for a couple days? (Tomorrow is my “weekend.”) It is a GREAT feeling. I need it. I have been working really hard at work and on some personal stuff lately. Man, am I exhausted!

Lots of inspiration browsing, tea, and perhaps a bit of thrifting? Maybe even a trip to the beach if I’m feeling crazy. I foresee a lot of The Xx on Pandora. J

I’m excited about tomorrow’s post! I’m going to feature my April Birchbox! J It’s a good one this month!

Morning Light

Early bird gets the worm….or tics on their legs? Okay, not really. But, it was a definite possibility. We may or may not have trespassed on this property that is for sale a mile or two from my house for these photos. I really wanted morning light and my friend/awesome photog Brian agreed to scout this location with me. The gate was unlocked! (No breaking and entering required.) We were originally headed to a water tower close by but couldn’t get access to it from the road. I saw the sign on this field near the water tower and knew it had potential.

I adore the sunlight in the morning. It’s really the only time I feel like the sun’s actual rays can be seen down here in Florida. Morning and late afternoon provide the best warm, sunny skies.  This pashmina/scarf/whatever is amazing vintage. It was given to me by one of my professors in college who I had done some cat sitting for! :) She got it a vintage retailer in Austin, TX and said she thought of me when she saw it! :) These Dolce Vita boots are another favorite item in my closet, for sure. So comfy. This skirt? Not so much. It turned out ok for work, but after seeing it in these photos, I think it’s headed to ye olde Goodwill.

So, work work work is all I have done, lately. It’s probably all I’ll continue to do for a while! I’m so grateful for my job, though. It can be stressful, sometimes. But, it’s so much fun and I’m so fortunate to work in this industry! I love this age. I’m so blessed to have so many opportunities and if I can stay motivated, I know it will pay off in the end! J (Risk of abusing a trite overused phrase…considered.)
