Movie Montage...

I love to play music when I get dressed. I turn on Pandora or turn up my iTunes every morning because there is truly something to be said about musically inspired style. Having good music playing in the background is essential to the creative process and also sets the tone of my day. Some of the best music and most downloaded artists are a huge part of fashion week because it is an opportunity to be involved in a choice that is ultimately one we all make each day; what do I put on my body when I leave my house? Or, more accurately, how do I want others to perceive me? How weird would it be if the models strutted down the runway in silence? You need the music to facilitate the mood the clothes convey. This is just as true in life. Maybe I'm partial to this Refinery 29 article because I fancy a little movie montage action every now and then. :) Either way, have a look and decide for yourself. Some of these songs are frequent visitors in my closet (ahem I mean room), Helena Beat? Yes, please. And The Head and the Heart? Gah..be still my heart.

Also,  I guess I'm going to do this bloglovin' thing since it seems like the only thing to do! Many of my favorite bloggers reside there and I just sort of fell into it! Follow if you please. :)

While you're at it, this is the link to my pinterest page, which is one of the most deliciously time wasting activities on the planet.

Since we're falling into this rabbit hole called social networking, my Instagram handle is erickashannon.

Okay, I think that's probably all I'm going to share. :) Maybe one day, I'll get cool buttons on the blog that'll link you right to these things.

Ebb and Flow

Welcome to the world of living in a denim vest. I should probably mention that I wear this Insight shearling /denim piece at least twice a week. It’s pretty shameful. If you work with me, you know this. But, I guess that also makes it like the best investment I’ve ever made. Look at me, I’m thrifty.

I HAVE to do a proper shoot with this dress sooner rather than later. This hemline is SO beautiful! I didn’t even know if I would be into the asymmetrical thing but I felt like a princess at work all day. J Whenever I walk, it floats behind me. One of the girls at work told me she kept catching herself staring at my skirt because it was creating wind as I walked! Sigh…don’t hate that one bit. But, alas it was almost dark by the time I got home because I stayed a little late at work. I almost just gave up on the photo taking situation, but I just LOVE this dress, so it was going to break my heart not to blog  it. Besides the fact I had already promised to show it on the blog! So, apologies for the grainy nature of these photos, but I think it makes them look kind of filmy, no?

Portobello Mushrooms and Dresses...

On my days off, I try to get out and about and do some fun stuff. It’s a good way to release tension when I’ve been working a lot. I find that wasting the day away actually leads to more stress and couch guilt. I had breakfast with a friend this morning at Cool Moose CafĂ© and it was SO delicious, as usual. Also, they have a self-serve Green Mountain coffee bar and it makes my heart happy. I did some thrifting after that and picked up THE cutest little gift for my sister’s birthday, which I cannot mention lest she read today’s post. J

These shorts are the leftover descendant of a pair of Le Folles de Joie jeans I purchased in the fall. It's summer now and I kind of decided I didn't really need black denim since it's 1,000 degrees in Florida on a daily basis until mid October. So, I cut them and I have to say they turned out quite well. Now, I have the high rise black shorties I've been thinking of buying. Sweet!

So, my mission was just to do a little thrifting today. But, I seriously cannot resist going in Wolfgang, a local retailer in the Five  Points neighborhood of our town.  The window is so appealing! I got a great dress for tomorrow. We’re having an important corporate visit at work and I kind of already had an outfit planned. But, this dress I picked up today is perrrfect. So, yeah…happens. If I happen to have time to get a shot of it tomorrow, I’ll post.

Rays...

I complain a lot about how I hate the climate where I live. (This remains to be true so don't get excited, Florida.) I'm generally just indifferent to the beach because of the overwhelming heat and the sweatiness and the scorching sun and melanoma...you get the picture. Alas, a little respite from cold is usually pretty nice about this time of year. Sunshine is actually pretty warm and fuzzy every now and then, I suppose. Playing with the sunlight in these photos made for good fun.

Today, like everyday, I made time to get a green tea latte from Starbucks and my good friend Brian shot these outfit shots of me before work. So, it's totally Florida and 80 degrees outside already but I was super bored with the dress by itself. It's really getting to the point where I never want to wear contacts again. I love my glasses so much. They're the perfect frame for my face! Okay and I'm lazy.....whatever.

Hey folks,

I guess this is my inaugural post. I used to have a blog called Very Pleasantly Jaded when I lived in Seattle, Washington doing a college internship in the Summer of 2010. However, when I returned to Jacksonville to finish my last year of college, it kind of went from being amazing to the wayside. Alas, I love blogging and hardly anything makes me as happy as going back and looking at my blogs from those days. That time in my life is really what got me interested in blogging and is ultimately the reason I have discovered so many bloggers that provide me with daily style inspiration.

My "About Me" is a pretty faithful summary. As for anything else, I'm a manager at ye olde Urban Outfitters. I love my job. It's fun and I get to be at the forefront of fashion for people who like the things that I like. (In no way are the things that I blog sponsored or paid for etc etc...obviously.) I like to read books. I love shoes...like a lot. My family is pretty boss, so that's that. Oh, "Intricately Disheveled" is basically a double metaphor for the physical look of my hair pretty much all the time (rarely brushed) and my life 100% of the time. Nothing ever goes the way it's planned, but it always works out to be pretty great, anyway. Eventually, I'd like to begin "style" posting my own outfits again. Stay tuned!
